A large part driven by proprietary digital products and services developed offered for-profit companies that form the technology industry. This article aims to introduce a theoretical focus rentiership assetization into study political economy technology. It discusses five potential transformations undergoing as consequence rentiership. These transformation address new rentee rentier roles institutions, nestedness platforms their terms use, rise contractual governance within sector, re-institutionalising tensions between competition monopoly in markets. trends are not exhaustive represent only start analysis on education. paper concludes with an invitation for future research.
